In February, the #3 ranked Texas Longhorn Softball team traveled to Southern California as participant in the Judy Garman Classic on the campus of Cal State Fullerton. Before the tournament started, they played a huge game against the #1, undefeated and defending National Champion UCLA Bruins. Texas won in dramatic fashion with back to back home runs in extra innings. The next game wasn’t much easier as the Lady Longhorns played #2 Washington Huskies. Again, Texas pulled off the upset winning 6-4 with two more late game home runs. Sandwiched in between 2 more games, the Longhorns played their third ranked opponent in perennial power Michigan who came in to the tourney ranked #10. It was a tight game, scoreless until the 6th inning, when pinch runner Tuesday DerMargosian scored from third on a base hit by Kathleen Sullivan. Here are a few pix from that game. You can see the rest of the pix from the Michigan game on Flickr. I will post pix from the Washington game when I get some more time.
